Jasmine Dickey leads Blue Hens past Charlotte in 73-57 win

The University of Delaware women’s basketball team earned their fourth win of the season on Sunday as the team defeated the University of North Carolina at Charlotte 49ers 73-57.

The leading scorer in the win for the Hens was senior guard/forward Jasmine Dickey, who recorded 31 points.

Redshirt junior forward Ty Battle recorded a double-double in the win with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Tyi Skinner also scored in double-digits in the game with 16 points.

Senior guard/forward Makayla Pippin led the team in rebounds with 16.

Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (28-26), points off turnovers (15-9), second-chance points (10-6),fast-break points (19-15), rebounds (54-40), turnovers (11-15), blocks (4-3), and steals (8-7).

Blue Hens also had the advantage in shooting as well, with the team shooting 36.6 % (26-71) and with UNC Charlotte shooting 31.7 %(20-63). The Hens bested the 49ers from the three-point line as well, with the team shooting 38.5 %(5-13) and Charlotte shooting 27.3 % (6-22). Delaware was also the better team at the free-throw line in this game as the team shot 80.0 %(16-20), and the 49ers shot 78.6 % (11-14).
