3-0: Lee runs all over Rhode Island in 35-21 win

The University of Delaware football has won their third straight game to start the spring 2021 season as the team defeated the University of Rhode Island Rams 35-21 on Saturday.

The offensive standouts in the game for the Blue Hens were Redshirt senior running back Dejoun Lee, redshirt junior quarterback Nolan Henderson, junior tight end Bryce De Maille, redshirt sophomore quarterback Anthony Paoletti and redshirt junior wide receiver Thyrick Pitts.

Lee had rushed for 221 yards on 22 attempts with two touchdowns.

Henderson went 17 for 22 with 190 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

De Maille had three receptions for 39 yards and one touchdown.

Paoletti rushed for six yards on three attempts and one rushing touchdown.

Pitts had four receptions for 64 yards and one touchdown.

On the defensive side, the standouts for the Hens were junior linebacker Johnny Buchanan, junior defensive back Kedrick Whitehead, Redshirt sophomore linebacker Anthony Toro, sophomore defensive end Chase McGowan, and sophomore linebacker Joe Zubillaga.

Buchanan was the leader in total tackles for the Blue Hens with five.

Whitehead had four tackles, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

Toro had three tackles and one sack.

McGowan had three tackles and two sacks.

Zubillaga had one interception in the win.
