After grinding the whole season, it was announced on Tuesday that junior guard/forward Jasmine Dickey was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year, and head coach Natasha Adair was named the CAA Coach of the Year.
Dickey also was named to the All-CAA First Team and CAA All-Defensive Team.
Two other Blue Hens earned honors as well, with redshirt junior forward Ty Battle also being named to the All-CAA First Team and CAA All-Defensive Team. Freshman guard Tyi Skinner was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team.
The newly named CAA player of the year, Dickey averaged 23.6 points per game (leader in the conference), 8.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists ( fourth-most in the CAA) and 2.4 steals ( led the CAA) in the regular season.
Dickey’s 23.6 points per game were also the eighth-most in Division I play.
Every time a game ended this season, it was no surprise to see the Blue Hens junior guard/forward in the stats season with double-figures in points. Dickey scored in double figures in all 22 games this season and had seven double-doubles. The Baltimore native scored 20 points in 16 games and 30 points in five games this season.
Battle was a double-double machine in the regular season with the Hens as she had 16 double-doubles which would have her tied third in Division I basketball. The redshirt junior forward averaged 12.2 points per game, 11.2 rebounds ( led the conference),1.3 blocks, and 1.4 assists per game in the regular season.
The freshman Tyi Skinner made her mark on the Blue Hens squad this season as she averaged eight points per game,1.8 assists,1.5 rebounds, and one steal per game in the regular season.
Last but not least, let’s talk about the job that head coach Natasha Adair has done this year with this team. In her fourth year as the Delaware coach, she led the team to a 19-3 overall record and 16-2 conference record. Also, the Hens were undefeated at home this season with an 11-0 record. Under Adair’s leadership, the team earned the CAA Regular Season Championship for the first time since the 2012-2013 season.
This team did the work off the court and on, which it is no surprise the honors are rolling in for them.
