Kent records double-double in Hornets 75-58 win over St. Mary’s (MD)

The Delaware State University’s men’s basketball team picked up their second win of the season on Sunday as the team defeated the St. Mary’s College Seahawks 75-58.

The leading scorer in the game for the Hornets was sophomore forward/center Zach Kent, who recorded a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Three other Hornets scored in double digits, which were junior point guard Pinky Wiley (16), senior guard Myles Carter (14), and sophomore guard John Stansbury (10).

Junior forward John Stansbury was the co-leader in rebounds, with Kent in the win with collecting 11 rebounds.

Delaware State had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (26-20), points off of turnovers (20-18), second-chance points(17-10), fast-break points (13-11), rebounds (50-42), assists (12-5), turnovers (12-13) and blocks (6-1).

DSU also had the advantage of shooting as well, with the team shooting 40.0 %(26-65) and with St. Mary’s shooting 32.8 %( 22-67). Delaware State also outshot Seahawks in free throw percentage as Hornets had a 66.7 % (16-24) and St. Mary’s had a 53.8 % (7-13) percentage.
