The first half ends with the game tied at 37
This one was a battle from the start as the lead change hands six times, and the score was tied five times in the first two minutes of the first half. The final lead change during those two minutes came from senior forward Anthony Ochefu, who made a free throw shot to give Delaware a 12-11 lead with 13:06 left in the first half.
In the next couple of minutes, the Blue Hens would outscore George Washington 7-3 to expand their lead to 19-14 with 10:56 left in the first half. The duo of Kevin Anderson and Ebby Asamoah would score six of the seven points on the run.
Starting at the 10:16 minute mark, the Colonials marched their way back into the game with a 5-0 run, which tied the game up at 19 with 9:34 left in the first half.
George Washington was not done, as about a minute later, the team went on a 14-7 run, which gave the team a seven-point lead (33-26) with 4:16 left in the first half.
Delaware would answer back with an 11-2 run of their own, which gave the team a 37-35 lead with 1:24 left in the first half. On this run, nine of the 11 points came from the three-point line, which came from Anderson, Ochefu, and redshirt sophomore forward Aleks Novakovich.
The Colonials would have the last two points of the first half as the team drained two free throw shots to tie the game at 37.
George Washington had their best shooting percentage of the game in the first half as the team shot 52.00 % (13-25).
Hens win by 3
In the early minutes of the second half, it would start as the first half did, with the two teams battling for the lead, as the lead changed hands six times and the score was tied three times. The final lead change during that time came from Dylan Painter, who had a layup go in to give the Blue Hens a 53-51 lead with 14:06 left in the game.
The Hens would continue to add to their lead as the team would go on a 7-0 run in the next two minutes of the game to give the team a 60-51 lead with 11:42 left in the second half. Painter would be the leader of this run as he scored four of the seven points.
At the 11:19 minute mark, the Colonials would start to climb their way back into the game as the team went on a 14-6 run to cut the Hens lead to one point (66-65) with 1:40 left in the second half.
Seconds later, Delaware’s Ryan Allen would hit a layup, which gave his team a 68-65 lead with 1:23 left in the game.
As the remaining seconds slipped by in the second half, George Washington would miss their next three shots, which would seal a Blue Hens 68-65 win.
The Hens had their best shooting percentage of the game in the second half as the team shot 41.94 % (13-31).
