Blue Hens kick off 2021 with a 70-67 win vs the College of Charleston

The University of Delaware men’s basketball team kicked off the new year with a 70-67 win against their Colonial Athletic Association rival, the College of Charleston Cougars, on Saturday.

The leading scorer for the Hens in the win was freshman guard Gianmarco Arletti who had 21 points.

Two other Blue Hens players scored in double digits, which were redshirt senior forward Dylan Painter (16) and freshman forward Andrew Carr (15).

Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in this game, which included points in the paint (30-18), points off turnovers (15-14), second-chance points (10-5), fast-break points (10-5), bench points (26-15), rebounds (31-28), assists (11-8), blocks (2-1) and steals (4-3)

The Blue Hens also bested the College of Charleston in shooting percentage by shooting 47.1 % (24-51), and the Cougars shot 42.2 % (19-45).
