The University of Delaware women’s basketball team took home their first win of 2021 in dominating fashion with a 86-59 win against the Northeastern University Howlin Huskies on Monday.

The leading scorer in the win for the Blue Hens was freshman guard Tyi Skinner who had 16 points.
Redshirt junior forward Ty Battle recorded a double-double in the Hens win with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Three other Blue Hen players scored in double digits, which were redshirt junior guard/forward Chyna Latimer (14), junior guard/forward Jasmine Dickey (13), and junior guard Jewel Smalls (11).
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (36-30), points off turnovers (34-13), second-chance points (15-9), fast-break points (17-9), bench points (35-9), rebounds (43-35), assists (20-13), turnovers (18-21), blocks (3-1) and steals (10-8).
Blue Hens also had the advantage of shooting as well, with the team shooting 47.7 %(31-65) and with the Northeastern shooting 36.2 %( 21-58). Delaware also bested the Huskies at the three-point line as the team shot 41.7 %(10-24) and the Northeastern shot 18.8 %(3-16). The Hens made sure to make their time at the free-throw line count as the team shot 63.6 % (14-22). The Huskies shot 60.9 % (14-23) at the free-throw line in the game.
