Delaware Sports Blitz will be showcasing student-athletes performances from this past season each week.
Each week we will look at different colleges from the state of Delaware and showcase their athlete’s performance in the chosen sport of the week.
This week is all about Delaware’s softball team which will start with the sophomore infielder Brooke Glanden.
Glanden had a .457 batting average, .714 slugging percentage, .537 on-base percentage, 16 runs, 32 hits, six doubles, four home runs, 24 RBIs, 12 walks, 11 strikeouts, and three stolen bases in 23 games. The Delaware sophomore led the team in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, hits, RBIs ( co-leader), home runs ( co-leader), total bases and walks in the 2020 season.
On the defensive side, Glanden had 157 putouts, five assists, one error, seven double plays, and a fielding percentage of .994 in the 2020 season. The University of Delaware infielder led the team in chances, putouts, and double plays for the 23 game season.
The Felton, Delaware native was among the best in the Colonial Athletic Association in batting average, as Glanden placed in the fourth spot with .485. The sophomore infielder also placed eighth in runs in the conference with 16. Glanden was also second in the CAA in hits with 32. The Delaware infielder also placed sixth in doubles, first in RBIs, seventh in slugging percentage, fourth in walks and fourth in on-base percentage in the CAA.
On the defensive side, Glanden was among the best in the Colonial Athletic Association in putouts, as she placed in the first spot with 157. The University of Delaware infielder also placed second in the CAA in double plays with seven. Glanden was also 12th in the conference in fielding percentage with .994.

Delaware Opens The Season With A 4-0 Win Vs Georgetown
The Blue Hens scored one run in the first inning and three in the fourth to come away with a 4-0 season-opening win over Georgetown on February 7th.
Glanden had one hit and one double in the win. On the defensive side, Glanden had eight catches for eight putouts and one double play.
The Blue Hens Get A 9-6 Win Vs UConn
Delaware had no problem with scoring runs in this game as the team scored a combined four runs in the first and second innings and then would score five runs in the fourth to win 9-6 over UConn on February 8th.
Glanden had one run, one hit, two RBIs, and two walks in the Hens second win. On the defensive side, Glanden had seven catches for seven putouts.
Back To Back Wins For The Hens
The University of Delaware would score two runs in the early innings of this game which would be enough to get a 2-0 win over Boston College.
Glanden had two hits and one RBI in the win. On the defensive side, Glanden had six catches for five putouts and one assist.
Winning Streak Hits Three With Win Vs LIU
The Hens would continue to ride the winning momentum they were building as the team would take home a dominating 11-2 win over LIU to extend their winning streak to three.
Glanden had two runs, three hits, three RBIs, one home run and one walk in the dominating win. On the defensive side, Glanden had seven catches for seven putouts.
Blue Hens Winning Streak Hits Four With 9-4 Win Vs Grambling
Despite committing seven errors in this game, Delaware would be able to win this one 9-4 against Grambling on February 14th.
Glanden had two runs, one hit, two RBIs, two walks and one stolen base in the win. On the defensive side, Glanden had nine catches for seven putouts, one assist, one error, and one double play.
Delaware Winning Streak Extends To Five
The Blue Hens offense took some time to get going in this one but as soon as the team did, they hit runs in bunches. The Hens scored four runs in the fifth inning and three in the seventh to take a 7-2 win over Cleveland State.
Glanden had two strikeouts in the win. On the defensive side, Glanden had eight catches for eight putouts.
UD Winning Streak Hits Six
The University of Delaware would score two runs in the first inning and four in the fifth inning to take a 6-2 win over Incarnate Word on February 15th.
Glanden had two runs, three hits, three RBIs, one double and one home run in the game. On the defensive side, Glanden had two catches for two putouts and one double play.
Blue Hens Get Seventh Straight Win Vs, Fairleigh Dickinson
Fairleigh Dickinson would try to mount a comeback in this game with scoring four runs in the sixth but Delaware would hang on to win 6-4.
Glanden had one hit, one RBI, one walk, and one strikeout in the win. On the defensive side, Glanden had eight catches for seven putouts, one assist, and one double play.
Delaware’s Win Streak Hits Eight With 5-3 Win Vs Cleveland State
The Blue Hens would trail 3-2 late in this game but the team would rally in the seventh inning and score three runs to take a 5-3 win over Cleveland State on February 16th.
Glanden had two hits, two RBIs, one double, and one walk in the game. On the defensive side, Glanden had six catches for six putouts.
Hens Get Ninth Straight Win Vs Sacramento State
Delaware would push in two runs in the first inning which would be enough to get a 2-1 win over Sacramento State on February 21st.
Glanden had two hits, two RBIs, and one stolen base in the win. On the defensive side, Glanden had four catches for four putouts.
UD Winning Streak Extends To 10 Games
The Blue Hens winning streak would go into double digits (10) as the team defeated Quinnipiac 9-3.
Glanden had one run, two hits, five RBIs and one home run in the win. On the defensive side, Glanden had seven catches for seven putouts.
Blue Hens Dominate Loyola Marymount For 12th Win
UD would come out swinging fast in this game as the team would score eight runs in the first inning which would eventually lead to a 14-1 win over Loyola Marymount.
Glanden had one run, one hit, one RBI in the game. On the defensive side, Glanden had seven catches for seven putouts.
Delaware Snaps A Two-Game Losing Streak With 9-1 Vs Lafayette
The Blue Hens had a 4-1 lead in the game around the fourth inning, then came the fifth inning where the team scored five runs which earned them a 9-1 win over Lafayette.
Glanden had two runs, one hit and two walks in the win. On the defensive side, Glanden had five catches for five putouts.
Hens Take A Win 4-2 Win Vs, George Mason
The University of Delaware would score four runs in the sixth inning which would be enough to hold to a 4-2 win over George Mason on March 1st.
Glanden had one run, one hit and one strikeout in the win. On the defensive side, Glanden had 13 catches for 13 putouts and one double play.
UD Wins Third Straight Game
Delaware would score a combined seven runs in the third and fourth innings to seal a dominating 7-2 win against Saint Peters on March 6th.
Glanden had one run, two hits, two doubles, and two walks in the win. On the defensive side, Glanden had 14 catches for 14 putouts and a double play.
Delaware Extends Winning Streak To Four With 1-0 Win Vs UMBC
The Blue Hens hitting struggled throughout this game but the team came through in the seventh inning to score the winning run to beat UMBC 1-0.
Glanden had one hit and two strikeouts in the game. On the defensive side, Glanden had 11 catches for 11 putouts.
Blue Hens Winning Streak Hits Five
UD would score three runs early in this game which would be enough to defeat Norfolk State 3-0 on March 7th.
On the defensive side, Glanden had three catches for three putouts.
Hens Streak Goes To Six With 2-1 Win Vs Binghamton
The Blue Hens would win their sixth straight game with a 2-1 victory over Binghamton on March 8th.
Glanden had one hit, one double and one strikeout in the win. On the defensive side, Glanden had nine catches for nine putouts.
UD Ends The Season With A Win
In their final game of the 2020 season, Delaware would end the season with an 8-2 win over Hampton.
Glanden had two runs, four hits, one RBI, one home run, and a stolen base in the final win. On the defensive side, Glanden had two catches for two putouts.
