Season Stats: Delaware’s Samone DeFreese

Delaware Sports Blitz will be showcasing student-athletes performances from this past season each week.

Each week we will look at different colleges from the state of Delaware and showcase their athlete’s performance in the chosen sport of the week.

This week is all about Delaware’s women’s basketball team which will conclude with senior forward Samone DeFreese.

DeFreese averaged 8.6 points per game, 5.9 rebounds per game and 1.6 steals per game in 26.9 minutes per game in 29 this season.

The Bergenfield, New Jersey native was among the best in the Colonial Athletic Association in points per game, as DeFreese placed in the 30th spot with 8.6 points per game. DeFreese was also 10th in the CAA in rebounds per game with 5.9.

Game Log

Delaware Falls To Maine In Season Opener

The Blue Hens would open the 2019-2020 with a 69-56 loss to Maine.

DeFreese had four points, two assists and one rebound in the opening day loss.

Delaware Ends A Four-Game Skid To Get First Win Of Season

The Hens struggled early in the season to find any traction but the Hens would put the pieces together in the CSF Titan Classic which would lead to their first win of the season against Cal St. Fullerton with a 72-55 score on November 29th.

DeFreese had four points, five rebounds, four assists, one block and three steals in the win.

Overtime Win For The Hens Against Santa Clara

Delaware’s second win of the season did not come easy, as the team had to battle with Santa Clara in overtime to get an 81-80 win on November 30th.

DeFreese had seven points, five rebounds and two assists in the overtime win.

Hens Take Down Robert Morris 73-62

On December 7th, The Blue Hens would take down Robert Morris 73-62.

DeFreese would have 15 points, six rebounds, four assists and one block in the game.

Blue Hens Take A 63-44 Win Over George Mason

UD was riding a two-game losing streak coming into the George Mason game but the team would put that streak to an end with a 63-44 win over the Patriots.

The senior forward would have five points, two rebounds and one assist in the win.

Delaware Halts A Two-Game Skid With 80-59 Win Vs Hofstra

In the first home game of the new year, the Hens would bring home an 80-59 win over Hofstra.

DeFreese had four points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal in the win.

Hens Defeat Elon 65-56

Delaware would lose three straight road games coming into the Elon game but the team would pull out a 65-56 win against the Phoenix.

DeFreese had two points, one rebound and one assist in the game.

Delaware Takes A 69-62 Win Over Towson

The Blue Hens started the month of February on a good note, as the team beat Towson 69-62 on February 2nd.

DeFreese would have seven points, 10 rebounds, two assists and one steal in the win.

Back To Back Wins For UD

The following week, the Hens would continue to roll as the team picked up another win with an 81-69 victory against Northeastern on February 7th.

The Bergenfield, New Jersey had five points, six rebounds and two assists in the win.

Three Straight Wins For Delaware

For the first time this season, the Blue Hens would win three straight games as the team beat Hofstra 77-67.

DeFreese had nine points, nine rebounds and two assists in the game.

Hens Take Home A 73-60 Win Vs Elon

The Hens defeated Elon 73-60 on February 21st.

DeFreese had three points, two steals, two assists and seven rebounds in the win.

Delaware Snaps A Three-Game Losing Streak With 63-54 Win Vs College Of Charleston

The Blue Hens would end a tough three-game losing streak with a 63-54 win over College Of Charleston on March 5th.

DeFreese had a season-high 20 points in the win.

Hens Get Final Win Vs UNCW

Delaware would close the season with winning back to back games, as the team beat UNCW 61-57.

DeFreese would have 14 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals in the win.
