Delaware Sports Blitz will be showcasing student-athletes’ performances from this past season each week.

Each week we will look at different colleges from the state of Delaware and showcase their athlete’s performance in the chosen sport of the week.

This week is all about Wilmington’s women’s basketball team which will start with graduate student guard LaShyra Williams.

Williams averaged 15.9 points per game, 8.1 rebounds per game, 3.4 assists per game, and 1.5 steals per game in 33.2 minutes per game in 18 games this season. The Wilmington guard led the team in rebounds, assists, and points per game this season.

The Seaford, Delaware native was among the best in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in points per game, as Williams placed in the eighth spot with 15.9 points per game. Williams also placed 10th in the CACC in rebounds per game with 8.1. The graduate student also was in the top 15 ( ranked 15th) in steals in the conference with 1.5.

Wilmington Ends 11-Game Losing Streak To Capture First Win

Wildcats would finally cut their 11-game losing streak on January 4th when the team defeated Bloomfield 66-59.

Williams had 11 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and five steals in Wilmington’s first win of the season.

Wildcats Snap Three-Game Losing Streak With Win Vs Felician

Almost four weeks after their first win of the season, Wilmington would hit a little speed bump as the team would lose their next three games. The team would snap the three-game losing streak with an 89-59 win over Felician.

Williams had a double-double in the win as she had 20 points and 11 rebounds.

WilmU Defeats Nyack 85-76

Wilmington would bounce back from a tough home loss to USciences with an 85-76 road win against Nyack on January 25th.

Williams had 20 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the win.

Wilmington Snaps Two-Game Losing Streak With Win Over Chestnut Hill

The Wildcats would bounce back from a tough overtime loss to Post with a 77-67 win against Chestnut Hill.

Williams would have a double-double in this win, as she had 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Wildcats’ Final Win Of The Season Comes Against Concordia (N.Y.)

On February 15th, Wilmington would capture their final win of the season over Concordia (N.Y.) with a 60-50 score.

Williams had six points, 13 rebounds, three assists, and four steals in the game.

WilmU Falls To Goldey-Beacom In Last Regular Season Game

In the last game of the season, the Wildcats would fall to Goldey-Beacom 73-70.

The Seaford, Delaware native had a season-high 29 points in the loss.
