Delaware Sports Blitz will be showcasing student-athletes performances from this past season each week.
Each week we will look at different colleges from the state of Delaware and showcase their athlete’s performance in the chosen sport of the week.
This week is all about Wilmington’s softball team which will conclude with junior third baseman, Lauren Lopez.
Lopez had .364 batting average, .391 on-base percentage, .409 slugging percentage, two runs, eight hits, one double, three RBIs, one walk, and four strikeouts in eight games this season.
On the defensive side, Lopez had 23 catches for four putouts, 19 assists, and one double play in the shortened 2020 season. The Wilmington junior led the team in assists this season.
The Burbank, California native was among the best in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in batting average, as Lopez placed in the 15th spot with .364. The Wilmington third baseman was also in top 25 ( ranked 24th) in the conference in on-base percentage with .391. Lopez also placed ninth in the CACC in assists with 19.

Wilmington Fall 3-2 To Western Oregon In Season Opener
The Wildcats 2020 season began on March 1st when the team lost a close 3-2 game to Western Oregon.
Lopez had two hits in the opening day game. On the defensive side, Lopez had three catches for three assists.
Wilmington Lose In High Scoring Game Vs #4 Rollins
The Wildcats were right in this game in the mid to late innings with the score tied at seven but Rollins would score one run in the ninth to take an 8-7 win on March 2nd.
Lopez had two hits, one run, one double, two RBIs and three strikeouts in this game. On the defensive side, Lopez had four catches for four assists.
WilmU Gets Swept By #4 Rollins
WilmU had an early lead in this game but Rollins would mount a late-game come back to take a 6-5 win on March 2nd.
Lopez had one hit and one RBI in the loss. On the defensive side, Lopez had six catches for two putouts, four assists, and a double play.
WilmU Falls To Tampa 6-3
Wilmington would fall behind early in this game and never could climb out of the hole from the earlier innings which resulted in a 6-3 loss from Tampa.
Lopez had one run and two hits in the loss. On the defensive side, Lopez had six catches for one putout and five assists.
