The University of Delaware women’s basketball team won their 10th game of the season on Friday, as the team defeated the Elon University Phoenix 73-60 at the Bob Carpenter Center.
The leading scorer in the game for the Blue Hens was graduate student forward Nicole Enabosi who had 24 points. Enabosi also had her fifth double-double of the season in this game, as she had 11 rebounds with her 24 points. The Hens forward also broke the all-time career double-doubles record with 48.
Two other Blue Hens scored in double digits in the win which they were sophomore guard/forward Jasmine Dickey (17) and senior guard Abby Gonzales (15).
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game which included points in the paint (36-20), second-chance points (14-8), rebounds (37-26), assists (11-9), blocks (5-3) and steals (10-8).
Blue Hens also had the advantage of shooting as well, with the team shooting 55.8 %( 24-33)and with Elon shooting 33.9 %( 20-59). Delaware also bested the Phoenix at the three-point line as the team shot 55.6 %(5-9) and Elon shot 33.3 % (6-18).

Elon Leads By Two After One Quarter
The leading scorer for the Hens in the first quarter was Abby Gonzales who had seven points. As a team, the Hens saw the bucket well in the first quarter as they shot 55.56 % (5-9). Delaware also shot 50.00 % (4-8) at the free-throw line in the first quarter.
Elon shot 28.57 % (6-21) in the first quarter and the team also shot 50.00 % (3-6) at the three-point line.
The game started with Elon jumping out to a quick 8-2 lead but the team’s six-point lead would not last very long.
At the 6:47 minute mark, Delaware would start a 7-0 run to take a 9-8 lead with 4:30 left in the quarter. Gonzales was the leader of this run as she scored five of the seven points.
The Phoenix would outscore the Blue Hens 9-6 for the rest of the quarter to take a 17-15 lead into the second.
Hens Lead By Seven At The Half
The leading scorer for the Hens in the second quarter was Nicole Enabosi who had six points. As a team, Delaware dipped a little in their shooting in the second quarter, as they shot 50.00 % (6-12). The Blue Hens also shot 50.00 % (2-4) at the free-throw line in the second quarter.
Elon had their worst shooting percentage in the game in the second quarter, as the team shot 16.67 % (1-6). The Phoenix also shot 33.33 % (1-3) at the free-throw line in the second quarter.
In the first six minutes of the second quarter, Delaware came out swinging as the team went on a 10-1 run. The run gave the team a 25-18 lead with 4:55 left in the half. Nicole Enabosi was the leader of this run as she scored four of the 10 points. The Blue Hens had two offensive rebounds, three defensive rebounds and four steals in the 10-1 run.
Each team would score four points for the rest of the quarter but Delaware would take a 29-22 lead into the half.
Blue Hens Cling To One Point Lead In Third Quarter
The leading scorer for the Hens in the third quarter was Jasmine Dickey who had five points. The Blue Hens stayed steady in their shooting in the third quarter as they shot 50.00 % (6-12). Delaware also shot 100.00 % (3-3) at the free-throw line in the third quarter.
Elon had their best shooting percentage of the game in the third quarter, as the team shot 46.67 % (7-15). The Phoenix also shot 85.71 % (6-7) at the free-throw line in the third quarter.
The third quarter starter started with Elon going on a 7-2 run which gave the team a 32-31 lead with 5:22 left in the quarter.
Just about a few seconds later, Delaware would answer back with 11-4 run of their own which gave the team a 42-36 lead with 1:54 left in the third. Nicole Enabosi was the leader of this run as she scored four of the 11 points.
Starting at the 1:18 minute mark, the Phoenix would outscore the Blue Hens 8-3 which would decrease Delaware’s lead to 45-44 going into the fourth quarter.
Delaware Saves Their Best Shooting For The Fourth Quarter
The leading scorer for the Hens in the fourth quarter was Nicole Enabosi who had 10 points. The Blue Hens had their best shooting percentage of the game in the fourth quarter, as the team shot 70.00 % (7-10). Delaware also leaned on their free-throw shooting in the fourth quarter, as they shot 86.67 % (13-15).
Elon shot 35.29 % (6-17) in the fourth quarter and the team also shot 100.00 % (4-4) at the free-throw line.
In the first five minutes of the fourth quarter, Delaware would have a small lead but Elon battled all the way back to close the lead to one point (55-54) with 5:34 left in the game.
Starting at the 5:08 minute mark, Delaware’s offense powered up as the team went on an 18-6 run to seal a 73-60 win. The Blue Hens made seven free throws in the 18-6 run.
Delaware stays at home to take on William & Mary on February 23rd at 1 PM ET.
