It was reported by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo on Monday that the Baltimore Ravens are expected to sign former Wesley College quarterback Joe Callahan.
Ravens interest in Callahan came after Robert Griffin III fractured his right thumb and is expected to miss six the eight weeks.
This will mark the seventh team Callahan has signed with since coming into the league as an undrafted free agent in 2016. Callahan has been with the Green Bay Packers ( 2016 & 2017), New Orleans Saints (2016), Cleveland Browns ( 2016), Philadelphia Eagles (2018), and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2019).
In his first stint with the Green Bay Packers, Callahan threw for 499 yards and three touchdowns in the preseason.
Callahan’s second stint with the Packers saw the Wesley product making his NFL debut in week 16 of the 2016 season, where he completed five of seven attempts for 11 yards.
The last NFL action Callahan saw was in the 2018 preseason with the Philadelphia Eagles where he threw for 262 yards, one touchdown, and an interception.
Before Callahan entered the NFL, he shattered records at Wesley College by becoming one of the first division III quarterbacks to throw over 5,000 yards in a single season. The Wesley product also won the Gagliardi Trophy ( Division III’s Heisman Trophy) for his record-shattering senior season.
Callahan will reunite with offensive coordinator Greg Roman who coached the veteran quarterback at Holy Spirit High School.
