Wesley Football Ranked 8th in Street & Smith Preseason Poll; Lee Get Preseason Honors

Wesley College football was ranked eighth in the annual Street & Smith Division III Preseason Poll which was released on Monday.

The three time New Jersey Athletic Conference champions look to their defend their title this season which the team has won a least a share of since becoming an affiliate member of the conference.

Wesley is one of three Division III teams that have earned a spot in NCAA tournament each year which the Wolverines streak is 13 appearances.

According to the team’s site here is what the Street & Smith’s article said about the Wolverines:

 “The D3 king in the East will be a perennial power from Delaware, Wesley, where All-America running back E.J. Lee (1,582 rushing yards, 22 TDs) will be hard to stop behind returning QB Khaaliq Burroughs, who passed for 2,483 yards last season. Defensively, safety Cappadonna Miller is a difference-maker who came up with five interceptions last season.”

Street & Smith also named Wesley running back E.J. Lee as a Preseason All-America selection.

Smith had 1,582 yards rushing yards, 22 touchdowns, 252 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns last season.

Last season, Smith was named NJAC Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Eastern College Athletic Conference and D3football.com All-East Region Second Team.
