University of Delaware and Goldey- Beacom basketball players each earned weekly honors from their conferences for their play for the week.

CACC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week 

Corey Taite:

Taite was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week  for his play against Felician and Bloomfield.

During the two games, Taite averaged 22.5 points , 5.5 rebounds, 5 assists, 3.5 steals and 3.0 three-pointers during the two games last week.

In the win against Felician, Taite had  25 points, four 3-pointers, four steals and three rebounds.

In the loss against Bloomfield, Taite had  20 points, nine assists, eight rebounds, three steals and two 3-pointers.

Taite ranks high in the nation in many categories including 11th in the country with 39 steals, 23rd with 2.29 steals per game, 35th with 84 free throws, 40th with 590 minutes, 46th with 326 points, 75th with 19.2 points per contest and 75th with just 34.7 minutes per game.

Taite is helping Goldey-Beacom’s defensive unit get noticed as they are ranked  third in the country with 21.41 forced turnovers per game, sixth with 168 steals, seventh with a 5.5 turnover ratio and eighth with 9.9 steals per contest.

This is Taite’s second time earning  CACC’s Player of the Week, the GBC player has been named to the CACC’s weekly honor roll five times this season.

CACC Defensive Player Of the Week

Britani Bryson

Bryson was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women’s Basketball Defensive Player Of the Week for her play against Felician and Bloomfield.

During the two games, Bryson averaged  13 points, 12.5 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2.5 steals during the two games last week.

In the win against Felician, Bryson had 10 points and 14 rebounds, one assist, two blocks and three steals.

In the loss against Bloomfield, Bryson had 16 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks.

Bryson ranks high in the nation in many categories including 43rd with 153 rebounds, 74th with nine rebounds per game, 76th with 23 blocks, 89th with 94 baskets and 96th with a .475 field-goal percentage.

The senior forward is sixth in team history 1,336 points, third with 949 rebounds and third with 119 blocks.

Bryson is very close to becoming the first women’s player in Goldey-Beacom history to have 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 100 blocks.

This is the first time this season, Bryson was named the CACC’s Defensive Player of the Week. Bryson was also named three times to the CACC’s Weekly Honor roll this season.

CAA Rookie Of The Week

Justina Mascaro

Mascaro was named CAA Rookie of  the week for her play against Hofstra and Towson.

During the two wins last week against Hofstra and Towson, Mascaro averaged five points and three rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench.

In the win against Hofstra, Mascaro had five points, a rebound and a steal.

In the win against Towson, Mascaro had five points and five rebounds.

Mascaro is averaging 3.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game in 16 games this season.

This is Mascaro’s first CAA Rookie of the Week honor this season.
