The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference announced Monday, that Wilmington University’s outfielder Rosa’Lynn Burton earned CACC Rookie Of The Week Honors.
Burton had the hot hand last week, helping Wilmington softball team to a perfect 6-0 record. Burton played in 5 out the 6 games last week and went 12-for-18 (.667), 9 runs scored, 2 triples and 1 double.
The Wilmington outfielder’s week started by going 2 for 2 and a run scored in one game vs Georgian Court. In the next game vs Post, Burton had the hot bat by going 4 for 4, earning a double, a triple, knocked in 2 runs and scored 3 runs in the game. Burton scored 2 more runs in the next game with Post. Burton ended the week going a collected 4 for 8 in 2 games vs Concordia. The Dover, Delaware native had a triple and scored twice in game 2 vs Concordia.
Burton is second in the CACC with a .451 batting average while leading the league with 32 runs and 28 stolen bases. The freshman Wildcat has 10 RBIs on the season so far.
This is the second time Burton has earned CACC honors this season, as she was named CACC Co-Player and Co-Rookie of the Week in February.
