Wildcats snap Three Game Losing Streak With a 74-69 Win Over Millersville

On Wednesday night, Wilmington University snapped their three game losing streak by beating the Millersville  Marauders 74-69.

The Wildcats pulled out the win by crashing the boards heavily and out rebounding Millersville by 11. Also, when Wilmington was sent to the free throw line they did not waste those opportunities by making 21-25 (84%) shots at the line.

It all started in the first half where just like in the three game losing streak, Wilmington started slow.  Millersville came out the gate with 6 unanswered points, thanks to three pointers by Marcus Adkison and Conrad Chambers.

Then about  the 17:41 mark in the first half, Wilmington came alive and went on a 13-2 run that put them up 13-8. Just like Millersville, Wilmington clawed back with timely three pointers by Brian Adkins, Nick Richards, and Drew Johnson.

For the rest of first half neither team did not have the lead very long or by much. Both teams for the first half were living on three point line for a lot for points. At the half Millersville was up 37-34.

The Wildcats were on fire from the three point line at the first half by shooting 63%.

Tyaire Ponzo-Meek was the top scorer for Wilmington with 10 points in the first half.

Marcus Adkison was the top scorer for Millersville with 13 points in the first half.

In the second half, the game remained pretty close throughout the half but Wilmington would change that by outscoring Millersville by 8 points. Wilmington was on fire from the free throw line in the second half by making 20-22 (90%) shots at the line. The Wildcats also went on a tear on the boards in the second by out rebounding Millersville 26-15. Lastly, their guard  Ponzo-Meek scored 15 points in the half for the Wildcats to take a 74-69 win at home.

Tyaire Ponzo-Meek was the top scorer for Wilmington with 25 points in the game.

Marcus Adkison was the top scorer for Millersville with 22 points in the game.

Wilmington with a record of 4-3, now face a real test with Philadelphia University coming to the WU Athletic Complex at 3pm ET Saturday.
