Aquino, Ansley scores twice in Wilmington University’s 5-0 win over Post

The Wilmington University women’s soccer team earned its second victory of the season on Saturday with a 5-0 win over the Post University Eagles.

Wilmington University takes home a 5-0 win!

The Wildcats didn’t waste any time getting on the board in this match, as senior forward/defender Amelia Aquino as she had her shot hit the inside of the far post and bounce into the net at the five minute mark to give her team a 1-0 edge.  Senior defender Maria Leguizamon assisted on the goal.

Seven minutes later, senior forward  Quinne Ansley raced to the box and outmaneuvered the goalkeeper to put WilmU up 2-0. Leguizamon earned her second assist on the day with this goal.

Five minutes later,  freshman midfielder Braelyn Jalayer blasted the ball under the crossbar from 22 yards out to give her team a 3-0 lead.  Graduate student forward/defender Claudia Gillum assisted on the goal.

Wilmington held Post to five shots in the first half.

Ansley wasn’t done scoring yet, as she found the net at the 54-minute mark in the second half to put the team up 4-0. Senior midfielder Cayley Winters assisted on the goal.

Later in the second half, in the 85th minute, Aqunio scored her second goal of the day to seal 5-0 win over the Eagles. Junior forward/midfielder Raquel Leonardo assisted on the goal.

The Wildcats made sure Post didn’t get any good looks in the second half either as they held them to three shots.
