Goldey-Beacom clinches a spot in the CACC Tournament with a split versus Chestnut Hill

The Goldey-Beacom College baseball team earned a spot in the CACC Tournament with the split versus the Chestnut Hill College Griffins. The Lightning won the first game 3-1 and lost the second 2-1 on Monday.

Let’s talk about their Game One 3-1 win!

Game Leaders:

RBIs:  Kyle Walker, Braden Kolmansberger, and Darin Miller would lead the team in RBIs, with one in the win.

Runs: Walker also led the team in runs with two in the game.

Hits:   Walker would lead the team in hits, with four in the win.

Home Runs: Kyle Walker hit a home run in the game.

Stolen Bases: Johnny Kampes, Kyle Walker, and Demetrius Johnson would lead the team in stolen bases with one.

Game Recap:

Goldey-Beacom would be the first team to put a run on the scoreboard as junior infielder Darin Miller would hit a two-out, RBI double on the right field line to give his team a 1-0 lead.

Fast forward to the bottom of the fifth inning, where Chestnut Hill would knock in a run to tie the game up at one.

Two innings later, Braden Kolmansberger would push in a run when he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Lightning a 2-1 edge.

Then in the top of the ninth inning, Kyle Walker would give Goldey some breathing room in their lead as he hit a solo home run to push the score to 3-1.

GBC pitching would take care of the rest of the game to seal a 3-1 victory over Chestnut Hill.

Junior pitcher Jake Kelchner had a fantastic day at the mound today, as he went nine innings, gave up six hits, one run, one earned run, two walks, struck out five batters, and earned the win.
