On the very next play, Queens College would score on a fielder’s choice to give the team a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

The Lightning would come charging back in the bottom of the second inning, where they scored two runs on three hits and left two runners on base.

GBC’s first batter of the inning was freshman infielder Autumn Simpson, who would get things rolling for the team as she slapped a double down the left-field line.

Two batters later, junior first baseman/outfielder Nicole Makin would hit an RBI double to the right-center field to tie the game at one.

The last run of the second inning came when senior infielder Carly Setting hit a two-out RBI single up the middle to give the Lightning a 2-1 advantage.
