The Wilmington University men’s basketball team is heading to the postseason with an 82-74 win over the Goldey-Beacom College Lighting. The victory helped Wilmington clinch the fourth seed in the South division of the CACC Tournament. It will be the sixth straight year WilmU has reached the playoffs.
Junior guard Taalib Holloman led the Wildcats in scoring in the win with 27 points.
Four other Wildcats who scored in double digits in the win were senior guard Randy Rickards (10), Senior guard Justin Thomas (10), junior guard Amiri Stewart (13), and freshman guard Marcus Pierce (12).
WilmU had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included bench points (19-8), assists (16-14), rebounds (40-29), and blocks (7-2).
Wilmington University also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 50.0%(29-58) and Goldey-Beacom shooting 42.6% (29-68). The Wildcats were also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 95.0%(19-20), and the Lightning shot 53.3% (8-15).
