The University of Delaware men’s basketball team earned their third win of the season on Saturday as the team defeated the University of Hartford Hawks 78-50.
Redshirt junior guard Jameer Nelson Jr. led the Blue Hens in scoring in the win with 17 points.
Two other Hens players who scored in double-digits were junior guard Gianmarco Arletti (12), and Graduate Student guard LJ Owens (14).
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (32-20), points off turnovers (25-7), second chance points (10-0), fast break points (19-2), bench points (34-8), rebounds (43-25), assists (14-8), turnovers (14-18), and steals (11-7).
Delaware also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 44.6% (25-56) and Hartford shooting 36.2% ( 17-47). The Blue Hens also bested the Hawks from the three-point line, with the team shooting 36.8%(7-19) and Hartford shooting 25.0% (6-24). Delaware was also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 84.0 %(21-25), and the Hawks shot 52.6 % (10-19).
