The University of Delaware women’s basketball team earned their fourth win of the season on Saturday with an 83-80 win over the University of Illinois Fighting Illini.
Senior center Klarke Sconiers and fifth-year guard/forward Makayla Pippin led the Blue Hens in scoring with 18 points.
Three other Hens players who scored in double-digits were Graduate student guard Kharis Idom (12), junior guard Tara Cousins (11), and freshman guard Nakiyah Mays-Prince (11).
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points off of turnovers (15-12), fast-break points (12-3), turnovers (10-13), and steals (7-6).
The University of Delaware also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 45.9 % (28-61) and Illinois shooting 42.4% ( 28-66). The Blue Hens also bested the Fighting Illini from the three-point line, with the team shooting 46.2 %(6-13) and Illinois shooting 43.8%(7-16).
