The University of Delaware women’s basketball team earned their 11th win of the season on Wednesday as the team defeated the University of North Carolina Wilmington Seahawks 78-69. The win on Wednesday gives the Blue Hens five straight wins against UNCW. The Blue Hens also move to a 5-1 record in the conference (CAA) with the win over the Seahawks.
The leading scorer for the Hens in the win was senior guard/forward Jasmine Dickey, who scored 23 points.
Redshirt junior forward Ty Battle recorded her 11th double-double of the season, as she had 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Sophomore guard Tyi Skinner also scored in double-digits in the win with 20 points.
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included second-chance points (19-6), fast-break points (19-9), rebounds (43-26), assists (14-10), blocks (5-2), and steals (9-8).
Blue Hens also had the advantage in shooting as well, with the team shooting 50.8 %(30-59) and with UNCW shooting 43.9 % (25-57). The Hens bested the Seahawks from the three-point line as well, with the team shooting 29.4 %(5-17 ) and UNCW shooting 23.1 % (3-13).
