All tied up at 35 after one half of play
This game’s intensity was at a high level from the opening tip as the two teams changed leads three times, and the score was tied two times in the first six minutes of the first half. The last bucket during that time came from Ryan Allen, who drained a three-point shot to tie the game at 11 with 14:54 left in the first half.
Starting at the 13:41 minute mark, the Blue Hens would go on a 10-3 run, which gave the team a seven-point lead (21-14) with 10:39 left in the first half. The duo of Dylan Painter and Ryan Allen would score six of the ten points on the run.
Seconds later, the Mountaineers would answer back going on a 14-2 run of their own, which gave them a 28-23 lead with 4:40 left in the first half.
In the last four minutes and fifteen seconds in the first half, Delaware would outscore Appalachian State 12-7 to tie the game at 35. Ryan Allen was the Hen who hit the game-tying basket to get the score even at 35.
Blue Hens win 75-68!
The high intensity of this game did not settle down in the second half as in the first nine minutes out of halftime, it would remain a close match. After being down for most of the early minutes of the second half, the Blue Hens would take their first lead of the half at the 10:33 minute mark with a 53-50 advantage. Ryan Allen would continue to knock down shots from the three-point line as his latest make gave the Hens their first lead of the second half.
In the next six minutes of this game, Delaware would outscore the Mountaineers 19-11 to take a 72-61 lead with 4:28 left in the game. The trio of Dylan Painter, Andrew Carr, and Ryan Allen would score 13 of the 19 points during that time.
The University of Delaware would add three more points to their score to take home a 75-68 win over Appalachian State.
