Season Stats: DSU’s Jade King

Delaware Sports Blitz will be showcasing student-athletes performances from this past season each week.

Each week we will look at different colleges from the state of Delaware and showcase their athlete’s performance in the chosen sport of the week.

This week is all about Delaware State University’s softball team which will continue with the junior infielder Jade King.

King had a .194 batting average,.387 slugging percentage,.242 on-base percentage, four runs, six hits, two home runs, seven RBIs, two walks, and 10 strikeouts in 16 games this season. The Delaware State infielder led the team in RBIs (7) in the 2020 season.

On the defensive side, King had 37 catches for eight putouts, 23 assists, six errors, a fielding percentage of .838 and one double play in 20 games this season.

The Pomona, California native was among the best in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in hitting home runs, as King placed 7th with two.  The Delaware State junior was also 15th in the MEAC in RBIs with seven.

On the defensive side, King was among the best in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in assists, as she placed 18th with 23.

Game Log

Hornets Lose 15-4 To Campbell

Errors ( 4) and getting out hit 17-5 would saddle DSU with a 15-4 loss against Campbell.

King had one run, one RBI and one strikeout in the loss.

DSU Gets Outmuscled by Charlotte In 14-3 Loss 

Charlotte would score multiple runs in every inning in this game as the team put a 14-3 loss on Delaware State’s record.

King had one hit and one RBI in the loss.

Hampton’s Firepower Too Much For Hornets 

DSU would get out hit in the game 10-4 and Hampton scored a combined nine runs in the second and fourth innings to take an 11-3 win.

King had one run, one hit, two RBIs and a home run in the game. On the defensive side, King had one catch for one assist.

Delaware State Earns First Win Of The Season Vs Fairleigh Dickinson

On the last day of February, the Hornets would earn their first win of the season which was a 4-2 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson.

King had one run in DSU’s first win of the season. On the defensive side, King had two catches for two assists.

DSU Falls To Fairleigh Dickinson 6-5

In the second game of the doubleheader against Fairleigh Dickinson, Delaware State had a 4-1 lead in this one but that would not last long. The Knights scored five runs in the fourth and fifth innings which would lead to a 6-5 to win over DSU.

King had one run, one hit, three RBIs, one home run and a struck out in the game.  On the defensive side, King had five catches for two putouts, two assists, and one error.

Hornets Fall 13-2 To Texas Tech

On March 6th, Delaware State would fall to Texas Tech to a score of 13-2.

On the defensive side, King had five catches for two putouts, two assists, and one error.
