Delaware Sports Blitz will be showcasing student-athletes performances from this past season each week.
Each week we will look at different colleges from the state of Delaware and showcase their athlete’s performance in the chosen sport of the week.
This week is all about Delaware’s softball team which will continue with the sophomore outfielder Hanna Garber.
Garber had a .351 batting average, .547 slugging percentage, .437 on-base percentage, 20 runs, 26 hits, two doubles, five triples, one home run, 10 RBIs, 12 walks, 17 stolen bases, and 12 strikeouts in 23 games this season. The Delaware outfielder led the team in runs scored, triples, stolen bases, and at-bats this season.
On the defensive side, Garber had 31 catches for 26 putouts and six assists in 23 games.
The Lancaster, Pennsylvania native was among the best in the Colonial Athletic Association in batting average, as Garber placed in the 14th spot with .351. The Blue Hen centerfielder also placed 4th in the CAA in runs scored with 20. The Delaware sophomore was also 4th in the conference in hits with 26. Garber led the CAA in triples with five. The UD outfielder also placed 4th in the CAA in walks with 12. The second-year outfielder also was second in the conference in stolen bases with 17.

Delaware Opens The Season With A 4-0 Win Vs Georgetown
On February 7th, the Blue Hens kicked off the season with a 4-0 win against Georgetown.
On the defensive side, Garber had one catch for one putout.
The Blue Hens Get A 9-6 Win Vs UConn
After a tough loss from FGCU, the Blue Hens would rebound in the next game with a 9-6 win over UConn.
Garber had two runs, four hits, two RBIs, and one triple in the win. On the defensive side, Garber had two catches for two putouts.
Winning Streak Hits Three With Win Vs LIU
Delaware had 14 hits in this game which the team used well as they turned those hits into 11 runs, as the Hens won 11-2 over LIU.

Blue Hens Winning Streak Hits Four With 9-4 Win Vs Grambling
The University of Delaware’s winning streak would extend to four games when the team defeated Grambling 9-4 on February 14th.
Garber had one run, one hit, and two stolen bases in the win.
Delaware Winning Streak Extends To Five
UD was down 1-0 in the first four innings of this game which did not last long, as the team scored seven runs in the later innings to take a 7-2 win against Cleveland State.
Garber had two runs, two hits, one RBI, one triple, one walk, and two stolen bases in the game. On the defensive side, Garber had one catch for one putout.
UD Winning Streak Hits Six
Despite getting out hit in this one (11-8), The Hens used the hits they did get and turned them into six runs. Blue Hens won this game 6-2 over Incarnate Word.

Blue Hens Get Seventh Straight Win Vs, Fairleigh Dickinson
Delaware would extend their winning streak to seven when the team beat Fairleigh Dickinson 6-4 on February 15th.
Garber had one run, one hit, two walks and one stolen base in the win. On the defensive side, Garber had three catches for one putout and two assists.
Delaware’s Win Streak Hits Eight With 5-3 Win Vs Cleveland State
The University of Delaware would sweep Cleveland State in the Cardinal Invitational as they earned a 5-3 win over the Vikings.
Garber had one run and one hit in the game. On the defensive side, Garber had one catch for one putout.
Hens Get Ninth Straight Win Vs Sacramento State
UD traveled to Los Angeles, California for their next tournament which would start with a close 2-1 win against Sacramento State.
Garber had one run, one hit, one walk, and one stolen base in the win. On the defensive side, Garber had one catch for one putout.
UD Winning Streak Extends To 10 Games
The Blue Hens would get out hit in this game 13-11 but the team used their time on the bases wisely to score nine runs which earned them a 9-3 win over Quinnipiac.
Garber had one run, one hit, one walk, and one stolen base in the game. On the defensive side, Garber had four catches for three putouts and one assist.
Blue Hens Dominate Loyola Marymount For 12th Win
After a tough loss from Sacramento State, the Hens would bounce back in a big way as the team would defeat Loyola Marymount 14-1.

Delaware Snaps A Two-Game Losing Streak With 9-1 Vs Lafayette
The University of Delaware was riding a two-game losing streak as they came into play Lafayette which the team would respond big with a 9-1 win.
Garber had two runs, one hit, one walk, and two stolen bases in the win. On the defensive side, Garber had two catches for two putouts.
Hens Take A Win 4-2 Win Vs, George Mason
On March 1st, Delaware would take a 4-2 win over George Mason.
Garber had one run, two hits, one triple, one stolen base, and a strikeout in the win. On the defensive side, Garber had one catch for one putout.
UD Wins Third Straight Game
In the opening game of the Pirate Invitational, the Blue Hens would defeat Saint Peters 7-2 on March 6th.

Delaware Extends Winning Streak To Four With 1-0 Win Vs UMBC
The Hens continued to roll as the team won their fourth straight game with a 1-0 victory over UMBC.
Garber struck out twice in the win.
Blue Hens Winning Streak Hits Five
After getting a win over UMBC, UD would get another win later on in the day against Norfolk State with a score of 3-0.
Garber had one run, two hits, one double, one triple and a strikeout in the win. On the defensive side, Garber had two catches for one putout and one assist.
Hens Streak Goes To Six With 2-1 Win Vs Binghamton
On March 8th, Delaware would take a 2-1 win over Binghamton.
Garber had one hit, one walk, one stole a base, and one strikeout in the game.
UD Ends The Season With A Win
The Blue Hens would finish the shortened 2020 season with an 8-2 win over Hampton.
Garber had one hit, two RBIs, one double, and one walk in the final win. On the defensive side, Garber had one catch for one putout.
