Delaware Sports Blitz will be showcasing student-athletes performances from this past season each week.

Each week we will look at different colleges from the state of Delaware and showcase their athlete’s performance in the chosen sport of the week.

This week is all about the Delaware State’s women’s basketball team which will continue with graduate student forward Tierra Floyd.

Floyd averaged 9.6 points per game, 5.9 rebounds per game and 1.8 steals per game in 27.2 minutes per game in 21 games this season. The Delaware State forward’s 5.9 rebounds per game led the team this year. The graduate student also led the team in steals per game this season with 1.8.

Game One: 68-38 Loss Vs Lehigh

On November 6th, the Hornets opened the season at home but the result was not what the team was hoping for, as they loss 68-38 to Lehigh.

Floyd had six points, seven rebounds, one assist, one block and three steals in the loss.

Hornets Get First Win Vs Delaware In School History

DSU made some history with their next win as the team defeated the Blue Hens for the first time in school history. The Hornets won the game with a score of 67-64.

Floyd had six points, 11 rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal in the win.

New Year Would Bring A Win For DSU

The new year would bring Delaware State a 69-61 win over Morgan State on January 4th.

The DSU forward had a double-double in the game as she had 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Two Wins In A Row For Hornets 

The Hornets would continue to roll along as the team would win back to back games with a 64-54 win against North Carolina Central.

Floyd had four points, eight rebounds, one assist and four steals in the win.

Two Games Later, Same Result As Delaware State Gets A 64-60 Win Vs North Carolina Central

Delaware State had their way with N.C. Central this season, as Delaware State swept the team in the regular-season series. DSU won the second meeting with a score of 64-60.

Floyd had 13 points, five rebounds, two blocks and four steals in the game.

Hornets Begin February With A 72-55 Win Over Coppin State

On February 1st, DSU would take home a dominating 72-55 win over Coppin State.

Floyd had 14 points, nine rebounds, one block, and two steals in the win.

DSU Takes Down University of Maryland Eastern Shore

The Hornets would win their second straight game in the month of February, as the team defeated Maryland Eastern Shore 72-58.

Floyd had 20 points, one rebound and four assists in the win.

Hornets Pick Up A 76-64 Win Vs South Carolina State

Delaware State would get a 76-64 road win against South Carolina State.

Floyd had 14 points and one rebound in the win.

DSU Picks Up Their 11th Win Of The Season In 61-53 Victory Vs  Florida A&M

The Hornets would earn their fourth win in the month of February, as the team defeated  Florida A&M 61-53.

Floyd had 13 points, five rebounds, three rebounds and five steals in the game.

Delaware State’s Final Win Of The Season Would Come Against Coppin State

DSU would sweep the regular-season series against Coppin State as they picked up a 71-66 win in February.

Floyd had 14 points, one assist and one steal in the win.

Floyd Scores A Season-High 15 Points In Loss Vs Norfolk State

On March 2nd, DSU would lose 76-68 to Norfolk State.

Floyd had a season-high 15 points in the loss.
