Season Stats: Delaware State’s Lyric Turner

Delaware Sports Blitz will be showcasing student-athletes performances from this past season each week.

Each week we will look at different colleges from the state of Delaware and showcase their athlete’s performance in the chosen sport of the week.

This week is all about the Delaware State’s women’s basketball team which will continue with junior guard Lyric Turner.

Turner averaged 10.1 points per game, 2.2 rebounds per game and 1.4 assists per game in 21.4 minutes per game in 30 games this season. The junior guard was second on the team this season in points per game with 10.1.

The Mansfield, Texas native was among the best in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in scoring average per game, as Turner was ranked in the top 20 ( ranked 19) with 10.1 points per game.

Game One: 68-38 Loss Vs Lehigh

The opening game of the season did not go the Hornets way, as the team loss to Lehigh 68-38.

Turner had three points and two rebounds in the loss.

First Win Of The Season For DSU Vs Post

On November 9th, Delaware State would earn their first win of the season when the team beat Post 67-41.

Turner had three points and one rebound in the win.

Hornets Get First Win Vs Delaware In School History

DSU would finally get their first win against their in-state rival Delaware, as the team won 67-64.

The junior guard would have four points and one rebound in the win.

DSU Wins Third Straight Game With A 69-48 Win Vs Georgian Court

The Hornets were rolling in the month of November as the team would pick up their third straight win against Georgian Court with a score of 69-48.

Turner had eight points, one rebound, one assist and two steals in the win.

Turner Scores Season-High 26 Points In Loss Vs William & Mary

DSU would lose their third straight game in the month of November, as the team loss to William & Mary 73-52.

The Hornets guard had a season-high 26 points in the loss.

Delaware State Ends Four-Game Losing Streak With 89-66 Win Vs Saint Peter’s

On December 7th, Delaware would end a four-game losing streak, as the team defeated Saint Peter’s in a solid 89-66 win.

Turner had 19 points, three rebounds, and five assists.

New Year Would Bring A Win For DSU

Delaware State would start the new year off with a bang, as the team defeated Morgan State 69-61.

Turner had 12 points, one rebound, four assists and one steal in the win.

Two Wins In A Row For Hornets 

DSU would ride the momentum of the Morgan State win to their next game, as the team beat North Carolina Central 64-54.

Turner had 24 points, three rebounds and two assists in the win.

Two Games Later, Same Result As Delaware State Gets A 64-60 Win Vs North Carolina Central

The Hornets had their way with N.C. Central this season, as Delaware State swept the team in the regular-season series. DSU won the second meeting with a score of 64-60.

Turner had 15 points, three rebounds and five assists in the game.

Hornets Begin February With A 72-55 Win Over Coppin State

Delaware State would bounce back from a tough loss by North Carolina A&T with earning a 73-55 win over Coppin State.

The Texas native had eight points and two rebounds in the win.

DSU Takes Down University of Maryland Eastern Shore

The Hornets would win their second straight game in the month of February, as the team defeated Maryland Eastern Shore 72-58.

Turner had four points, seven rebounds and two assists in the win.

Hornets Pick Up A 76-64 Win Vs South Carolina State

Delaware State would get a 76-64 road win against South Carolina State.

Turner had nine points and two rebounds and two assists in the win.

DSU Picks Up Their 11th Win Of The Season In 61-53 Victory Vs  Florida A&M

DSU would pick up their 11th win of the season when the team defeated Florida A&M 61-53 on February 15th.

Turner had nine points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal in the win.
