It took more then two halves to get the win but the Wilmington University men’s basketball team beat the Post University Eagles 100-94 in overtime on Saturday at the Drubner Center.
The game was a battle in the second half and especially in the final minutes as the two teams were trading the lead back and forth. The second half would end with Wilmington’s sophomore guard Xavier Alston hitting a layup to tie the game at 89.
In Overtime, Redshirt junior guard Jermaine Head would hit a free throw to break the tie and give the Wildcats a 90-89 lead. From there, it was all Wilmington as Head, Alston and freshman forward Jordan Harding would score a combined nine points to lead their team to the win.
The leading scorer in the game for Wilmington was Senior guard Thomas Farrior who had 31 points in the game.
Jermaine Head had a double-double in the game for the Wildcats with 25 points and 10 rebounds.
Jordan Harding also scored in double digits in the Wildcats win with 23 points in the game.
Wilmington had the advantage in multiple categories in the game which included Steals ( 6-3), Points off Turnovers ( 18-8) and Points in the Paint ( 36-34).
Wildcats also had the advantage in shooting as well, as the team shot 47.3% (35-74) and the Eagles shot 38.4% (38-99). WilmU also had the advantage from downtown as well as they shot 43.5% (10-23) and Post shot 26.4% (14-53).
Farrior Scores 14 But Wilmington Trailed by Five At The End of First Half
The leading scorer for the Wildcats in the first half was Thomas Farrior with 14 points. Farrior’s teammate Jordan Harding was right behind him with scoring 11 points in the first half for WilmU.
As a team, Wilmington shot 45.5% (15-33) in the first half and they also shot 54.5% ( 6-11) at the three point line in the half.
Post shot 42.2% ( 19-45) in the first half and they also shot 35.0% (7-20) from downtown in the half.
The game started with the Eagles going on a 10-0 run which was led by Marcus Johnson and Darryl Stewart who scored four points each on that run.
In the late minutes of the first half, Wilmington would get the Eagles lead down to two points multiple times but the team never could tie or get the lead in the half.
The half ended with Post leading 45-40 over Wilmington.

Farrior Scores 15 & Alston Hits Game Tying Shot To Send It to OT
The leading scorer for the Wildcats in the second half was Thomas Farrior with 15 points. Farrior’s teammate Jermaine Head would be right behind him scoring 13 points in the half for Wilmington.
Wilmington shot 50.0% (17-34) in second half and shot 61.1% (11-18) at the free throw line.
The Eagles shot 40.5% (17-42) in the second half and shot 80.0% (4-5) at the free throw line.
After trailing for most of the game, Wilmington finally tied the game at 50 with a Jordan Harding layup with 16:16 left in the game.

Harding would score the last point with a made free throw to give Wilmington a 100-94 road overtime win.
Wilmington looks to make it three straight wins as they stay on the road to take on Jefferson on January 30th at 8:00pm ET.
