It was announced on Monday that another University of Delaware player made an NFL roster this year and that player is former defensive lineman Blaine Woodson.
Woodson is signing a free agent deal with the San Francisco 49ers,who was also invited to rookie mini camp last week.
Woodson joins fellow Blue Hen Defensive lineman Bilal Nichols of the Delaware players earning a spot on a NFL roster this year.
Nichols was drafted in the fifth round by the Chicago Bears in the NFL Draft this year.
This is the fourth time in the past five years at least two Blue Hens have been signed to NFL contracts.
Woodson’s ranked fifth on the Blue Hens with 55 tackles, three sacks and one interception in the 2017 season.
For his career, Woodson had 14.5 sacks for 75 yards and 21.5 tackles for loss for 89 yards.
Woodson earned many honors at his time at University of Delaware including 3x second team All-Colonial Athletic Association honors (2017, 2015& 2014) and CAA Defensive Rookie of the Year (2014).
