End of Season Quotes:
Head Coach Ryan Dixon on the historic season and his players effort:
“This season was an important one in continuing to build our men’s soccer program here at GBC. I could not be more proud of the achievements made both on and off the soccer field by my players. I am going to miss this senior class and thank them for the tremendous leadership they have shown while at GBC.”
Senior Defender Cameron Wilkinson on the historic season:
” It was a season we are all extremely proud of and it was great to reward all the continued support from everyone involved with the program. But what I am most proud of is the family and culture we have created, achieving so much with my brothers and the legacy we leave is what means the most to me.”
This next quote shows the passion, heart and just the brotherhood this team had in this historic year:
Senior Defender Declyn Brown on the historic season and the family he got out of it:
“It’s hard to put this season into words honestly. As a senior, it was our dream for years to take this program to a new level and achieve our goal. So, when you witness your dream come true right in front of you, it’s an incredible feeling.
If there is one thing I’d like people to know about our team and our success, it’s this…
We have more than 25 guys on the squad, from all parts of the world, and all walks of life. We are all different in so many ways – languages, religion, nations, behavior and character. Yet if you know our team, then you know we share something very special and unique. We are a family. We look after each other on and off the field, we provide, share, work and make it a priority that everyone in our family is happy and healthy because that is what family does.
So, when the time came for us to take care of business on the field. We took that same love with us every game. We would sweat, bleed, hurt, push and give everything we had for each other every game. No matter how good or bad it got, that was the root of our success.
It’s easy to put 30 guys in a team and make them win, the real challenge is making them successful. Coach Dixon was able to do that to this team, he started a concept of family and told us to trust the process and believe. We believed we were capable of the impossible, and after 4 years… we achieved the impossible.
Now we see life through the eyes of a champion, and that is something that no one can ever take away from us.”
