The Wilmington University softball team is the NCAA Division II East Region 2 Tournament Champions after defeating Georgian Court 4-1 on Saturday. The Wildcats now move on to the Super Regional, where they will take on Adelphi.

RBIs: Taylor Gillis would lead the team in RBIs with two in the win.
Runs: Lexi Moore, Haley Downin, Emma Zimmerman, and Cassidy Zelano also led the team in runs, with one in the game.
Hits: Gabriella Saucedo and Downin would lead the team in hits, with two in the win.
Stolen Bases: Moore stole two bases in the win.

Sophomore outfielder Gabriella Saucedo would get the scoring started for Wilmington in this game as she hit a two-out RBI single in the third inning to give her team a 1-0 lead.
Two innings later, Alyssa Herrera would get Georgian Court on the board when she slapped an RBI single up the middle of the field to tie the game at one.
Fast forward to the bottom of the sixth inning, where the Wildcats would score three runs on three hits to push their advantage to 4-1.
Sophomore designated player Jess Reed would push in the first run of the inning by reaching base by a fielder’s choice to give her team a 2-1 edge.
Sophomore outfielder Taylor Gillis would be the next batter up, as she hit a two-run single to right field to extend WilmU’s lead to 4-1.
Wilmington’s pitching would take care of the rest to seal a 4-1 victory over Georgian Court.
Pitching recap:
Sophomore pitcher Kylee Gunkel went 4.1 innings, gave up three hits, hit a batter, and had three walks.
Redshirt sophomore pitcher Delani Sheehan relieved Gunkel, as she went 0.1 innings, gave up one hit, one run, one earned run, and one walk.
Freshman pitcher Brooke Koehler would close out the game by going 2.1 innings, giving up one hit, striking out four batters, and earning the win.
