Queens College would get the scoring started first in the game, as Ann Grimshaw would smack an RBI double to left field to give her team a 1-0 lead in the opening inning.
It would not take long for Goldey-Beacom to respond as they would tie the game in the bottom half of the first inning with Autumn Simpson hitting a two-out RBI triple down the right field line.
Two innings later, the Lightning would push in another run on two hits to take a 2-1 advantage.
The highlight in the third inning was when the senior pitcher Chrissy Jordan hit a two-out RBI single to third base to give her team the lead in the game.
Fast forward to the bottom of the fifth inning, where Goldey scored two runs on three hits and left one runner on base.
The first scoring play of the inning came when freshman catcher/infielder Kaitlyn Jagielski hit an RBI double to right center field to extend GBC’s lead to 3-1.
Two plays later, Chrissy Jordan would hit an RBI sac bunt to push in another run to have the score at 4-1.
Goldey-Beacom was not done scoring just yet, as the team scored two more runs on four hits in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Sophomore infielder Alex Lowry would start the inning by hitting a triple to right center field.
Two plays later, junior catcher/infielder Gabriella Monzo would slap an RBI single into right field to expand Goldey’s advantage to 5-1.
The last score of the game would come from Carly Setting, who would hit an RBI single to right field to seal a 6-1 win over the Knights.
