Harrison & Ciszkowski combine for 36 points in Goldey-Beacom’s 70-54 win over Felician

Goldey-Beacom would trail by six points at the end of the first quarter.

The game would start with Felician flying off to a 14-4 advantage with 5:05 left in the opening quarter. Six of their points on the run came from a three-point line. It was a rough beginning for the Lightning, who missed five shots during that time.

Starting at the 3:26 minute mark, Goldey-Beacom would shake off the rust, as the team outscored the Golden Falcons 12-8 to cut the lead to six points (22-16) at the end of the first quarter. Alexis Harrison, Rory Ciszkowski, and senior guard Mone Izumi scored all 12 points during the run.

The team’s defense also stepped up during that time, as Goldey had three defensive rebounds and one steal.

The Lightning would trail by four points at the end of the first half.

Goldey-Beacom would continue to ride the momentum they had in the late minutes of the first quarter in the second, as they went on a 12-6 run to tie the game at 28 with 3:07 left in the first half. Alexis Harrison was the leader during that time, as she scored six of the Lightning’s 12 points.

Fifty-seven seconds later, Felician would take back the lead by outscoring Goldey 6-2 to end the first half with a 34-30 advantage.

Goldey-Beacom would lead by 14 points at the end of the third quarter.

The Lightning came out in the early minutes of the second half ready to roll, as the team went on a 19-9 run to give them a 49-39 lead with 2:02 remaining in the third quarter. Alexis Harrison had the hot hand during this time as she scored nine of GBC’s 19 points.

The team’s defense played a key part during the run, as they collected nine defensive rebounds, two blocks, and three steals.

Fast forward to the 35-second mark in the third quarter, where freshman guard Karlee Lemon would drain a three-pointer to push Goldey-Beacom’s advantage to 54-40.

The Lighting wins 70-54!

The fourth quarter started with GBC outscoring the Golden Falcons 11-7 to extend their lead to 65-47 with 3:03 left in the game. Senior guard Lexi Weikert and Rory Ciszkowski would score nine of the 11 points during that run.

In the rest of the fourth quarter, Goldey-Beacom would add five more points to their score to seal a 70-54 win over Felician.
