Five Goldey-Beacom players score in double-digits in an 82-50 win over in-state rival Wilmington University

Goldey-Beacom would lead by six points at the end of the first quarter.

The game started with the Lightning jumping out to an 11-2 advantage with 5:44 remaining in the opening quarter. The trio of  Rory Ciszkowski, Janiya Stevens, and Alanna Speaks scored ten of the 11 points during that run. Ciszkowski and Speaks each drained a three-point shot during that time.

The team’s defense was solid during the run, as they collected two defensive rebounds and two steals.

Starting at the 4:08 minute mark, Wilmington would claw their way back into the game by outscoring Goldey-Beacom 7-4 to cut the lead to 15-9 at the end of the first quarter.

The Lightning would lead by 21 points at the end of the first half.

Just like in the early minutes of the opening quarter, Goldey would open up the second by dashing out to a 10-2 run, which pushed their edge to 14 points (25-11). Senior guard Mone Izumi and Alanna Speaks would score seven of the ten points during that time.

Twenty-one seconds later, the Wildcats came charging back by outscoring GBC 8-2 to pull the lead within eight points (27-19) with 5:14 left to play in the first half.

Twelve seconds later, the Lighting struck back by going on a 15-2 run to extend their advantage to 42-21 at the end of the second quarter. Speaks and  Alexis Harrison would score eight of the 15 points during that time.

Goldey-Beacom would lead by 28 points at the end of the third quarter.

The Lightning would continue to start quarters off strong as they opened the third quarter by outscoring Wilmington 9-2 to stretch their lead to 28 points (51-23). Senior forward Jhordan Gardner would score six of the nine points during the run.

Fast forward to the 1:42 minute mark, where Zhuri Cannon would score the next four out of six points for Goldey-Beacom to bring their advantage to 63-35 at the end of the third quarter.

Lightning wins 82-50!

Fast forward to the 1:31 minute mark in the fourth quarter, where GBC would grab one of their biggest leads of the game, as Zhuri Cannon would hit a jump shot to put them up by 38 points (82-46).

Wilmington would hit the last three buckets, but it would not matter, as Goldey-Beacom would still take home an 82-50 win.
