Blue Hens would lead by three points after one-quarter of play.
The game started with Hofstra jumping out to a 7-2 advantage with 7:51 left in the opening quarter.
Twenty-five seconds later, Delaware would fly off on a 16-8 run, which gave the team an 18-15 lead with 1:08 remaining in the first quarter. The Blue Hens would drain two shots from the three-point line on the run, which came from Jewel Smalls and Kharis Idom.
UD’s defense was solid during this time, as they had three defensive rebounds and five steals.
At the end of the first quarter, the Hens would lead Hofstra by three points (20-17).
Hens would trail by four points at the end of the first half.
In the early minutes of the second quarter, Hofstra would start to heat up, as the team scored eight unanswered points to take a 25-20 advantage with 7:32 left in the first half.
Starting at the 6:58 minute mark, the University of Delaware would answer back by outscoring the Pride 6-3 to slice the deficit to two points (28-26) with 4:43 remaining in the second quarter. All six points on the run would come from the three-point line. Sophomore guard Mia Yanogacio, and Graduate student forward Demi Burdick would each hit a three pointer on that run.
A minute and 18 seconds later, Hofstra charged back, as the team went on a 6-1 run to push their lead to seven points (34-27) with 2:05 left on the clock in the first half.
The Blue Hens would end the second quarter by scoring three straight points to cut the Pride’s advantage to four points ( 34-30).
Delaware would lead by two points after three-quarters of play.
Fast forward to the 5:33 minute mark in the third quarter, where UD would start on a 12-0 run to grab a 48-42 lead with 2:42 left in the period. Klarke Sconiers and Kharis Idom would score 11 of the Hens’ 12 points during that time.
The defense played a key part in the run, as they had five defensive rebounds and one block.
Twelve seconds later, Hofstra would start to wake up, as the team outscored Delaware 6-2 to cut the lead to two points (50-48) at the end of the third quarter.
Blue Hens win 77-65!
The final quarter would start with the University of Delaware outscoring the Pride 7-4 to push their advantage to five points (57-52) with 6:20 left in the game.
A minute and 12 seconds later, Hofstra’s Sorelle Ineza would drain a three-point shot to slice the lead to one point (59-58) with 5:08 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Starting at the 4:35 minute mark, the Blue Hens would roar back by scoring 16 unanswered points to extend their advantage to 75-58 with 1:45 left in the game. Makayla Pippin and Nakiyah Mays-Prince scored 11 of the Hens’ 16 points during the run.
UD would add two more points to their score to seal a 77-65 victory over the Hofstra Pride.
