Five Goldey-Beacom players score in double-digits in an 83-59 win over Cheyney

Goldey-Beacom would lead by nine points at the end of the first half.

The game started with the Lightning running off to a 9-2 advantage with 16:52 left in the opening half. The team’s defense was solid during this time, as they collected three defensive rebounds and had one block.

Two minutes and 16 seconds later, Goldey-Beacom would push their lead into double-digits as the team took an 11-point edge (16-5) with Zayon Marsh hitting two shots from the free-throw line.

Twenty-nine seconds later, Cheyney would score six straight points to cut their deficit to five points (16-11) with 12:26 remaining in the first half. Four of the Wolves’ six points came from the free-throw line.

Starting at the 12:15 minute mark, the Lightning would fire back by dashing off on a 15-8 run to extend their advantage to 31-19 with 6:10 left in the opening half. The duo of Tyshon Judge and Omari Banks would score ten of the team’s 15 points during that time.

On the run, Goldey’s defense had a knack for finding the ball, as they recorded four steals and had one defensive rebound.

The Wolves would come storming back shortly after, as they outscored the Lightning 11-8 to slice the lead to nine points (39-30) at the end of the first half.

Lightning would win 83-59!

Goldey-Beacom would come out of halftime buzzing, as the team went on a 14-2 run to extend their advantage to 53-32 with 15:34 remaining in the second half. Zayon Marsh scored eight of the Lightning’s 14 points during this time.

Fast forward to the 7:48 minute mark, where Omari Banks would sink a layup to give Goldey a 23-point lead (71-48).

The Lightning would add 12 more points to their score for the rest of the second half to seal an 83-59 victory over the Wolves.
