Mickey Williams scores 25 points in Goldey-Beacom’s 84-71 win over Georgian Court

Goldey-Beacom would lead by 12 points after one-quarter of play.

The game started with the Lightning striking fast with a 15-0 advantage with 6:38 left to play in the opening quarter. The duo of Mickey Williams and Rory Ciszkowski scored 11 of Goldey-Beacom’s points on the run. The team also was draining three-pointers with ease during this time, as they made four.

The Lightning’s defense was stout during the run, as the team had two blocks, three defensive rebounds, and grabbed two steals.

Starting at the 5:45 minute mark, Georgian Court would score seven straight points to pull the lead within eight points (15-7) with 4:34 remaining in the first quarter.

Goldey-Beacom would outscore the Lions 12-8 for the rest of first quarter to end with a 27-15 advantage. The Lightning would continue to be on fire from the three point line, as Williams, Ciszkowski, and senior guard Lexi Weikert all drained one.

The Lightning would be up by 20 points at the end of the first half.

Georgian Court would start the second quarter with a burst of energy, as the team went on a 6-1 run to slice the lead to seven points (28-21) with 6:43 left in the first half.

Seconds later, Goldey-Beacom would answer back by outscoring the Lions 18-5 to push their advantage to 46-26 at the end of the first half. The trio of Mickey Williams, senior guard Mone Izumi, and Alexis Harrison scored 14 of the team’s 18 points during the run.

The Lightning’s defense continued to be solid, as the team had four defensive rebounds, two steals, and one block during that time.

Goldey-Beacom would lead by 28 points after three-quarters of action.

GBC would continue to have the momentum in the early minutes of the second half, as the team outscored the Lions 15-8 to extend their lead to 27 points (61-34) with 4:20 remaining in the third quarter. Senior forward Jhordan Gardner, Mone Izumi, and Rory Ciszkowski would score all of Goldey’s 15 points during the run.

The defense had quick hands during this time, as they were able to steal the ball three times.

The Lightning would add eight more points to score to end the third quarter with a 69-41 advantage.

GBC wins 84-71!

In the early minutes of the fourth quarter, the Lions would start to claw back into this one. The team went on a 25-8 run to cut the lead to 11 points (77-66) with 2:20 left in the game.

Goldey-Beacom would score seven more points to seal an 84-71 win over Georgian Court. Mickey Williams would score five of the seven points during this time.
