Wilmington leads 1-0 after one inning

Wildcats combine for eight runs in the third and fourth innings

After two innings of struggling to get anything going, the Felician hitters would be on fire in the third with four hits and scoring four runs.

The Wildcats did answer back quickly as the team scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning.

The first run of the inning came from Gabbie Saucedo as she had a sacrifice fly, which allowed Lexi Moore to score to cut the lead to 4-2.

Kiersten Comer would be the next batter, as she hit a two-RBI double to left-center to tie the game at four.

In the top of the fourth inning, Kylee Gunkel would come in for Dill, as she went 3.2 innings, gave up three hits, six strikeouts, and earned the win.

WilmU’s bats would remain hot in the bottom of the fourth inning, as the team had four hits and pushed in five runs.

Five batters in the fourth inning would see Lauren Lopez hit a two-RBI single through the left side of the field, which gave the team a 6-4 lead.

Two plays later, Lexi Moore would score on a wild pitch to give the Wildcats a 7-4 advantage.

Gabbie Saucedo would be the next player at the plate, as she would ground out, but it allowed Lopez to score to extend their team’s lead to 8-4.

Comer would come up to the plate next, as she hit an RBI single up the middle to expand Wilmington’s lead to 9-4.

Wilmington wins 10-4!

The Wildcats would add one more run in the bottom of the fifth inning as Tristyn Stewart would score on a wild pitch to give her team a 10-4 advantage.

Wilmington’s pitcher Kylee Gunkel would shut the door on the 10-4 win as she had one hit, struck out a player, get a pop-out, and get a player to fly out.
