Blue Hens lead by three points after one half of play
The game started with Delaware immediately taking a 6-2 advantage with 19:01 left in the first half. Jameer Nelson Jr. and junior guard Ebby Asamoah each made a three-pointer during that run.
In the next six minutes, the Blue Hens would outscore James Madison 10-9 to take a 16-11 lead with 13 minutes remaining in the first half. During that time, the Hens would stay hot from the three-point line, as sophomore forward Andrew Carr and Nelson Jr. each drained one.
Almost a minute later, James Madison would outscore the University of Delaware 9-6 to trim the lead to two points (22-20) with 6:42 remaining in the first half.
Seven seconds later, Delaware would go on an 8-1 run, which pushed their lead to nine points (30-21) with 3:57 left in the first half. The impact player during that run was Andrew Carr, who had two points and swiped two steals.
Nine seconds later, the Dukes would answer back with an 8-2 run to end the first half, only trailing by three points (32-29).
Hens win 81-60!
In the first six minutes of the second half, Delaware would outscore James Madison 13-7 to extend their lead to 45-36 with 14:18 remaining in the game. Jameer Nelson Jr. would score six of the 13 points on the run. The Blue Hens defense was also a factor on the run as the team had four defensive rebounds, two steals, and one block.
Nine seconds later, the Hens would keep the pedal to the metal as the team outscored the Dukes 24-18 to expand their lead to 15 (69-54) with 4:37 left in the game. The duo of Nelson Jr. and Ebby Asamoah would score 16 of the 24 points on the run.
Fifteen seconds later, the University of Delaware would close out the game with a 12-6 run to seal an 81-60 win of the Dukes. Jameer Nelson Jr. scored eight of the 12 points on the run.
