Four Blue Hens score in double-digits in 74-61 win over Northeastern

Blue Hens lead by five points after one half of play

The game started with Delaware flying off to a 16-4 lead with 13:00 minutes left in the first half. The duo of Andrew Carr and Kevin Anderson scored ten of the 16 points on the run. The Blue Hens defense was also a factor on this run as the team had four defensive rebounds, and three steals.

Starting at the 12:24 minute mark, Northeastern would outscore the Hens 27-16 to trail only by one point with 2:40 left in the first half.

Twenty-three seconds later, the University of Delaware would go on a 6-2 run to end the first half with a 38-33 lead. During that run, Jyare Davis and Jameer Nelson Jr. came up big with each blocking one of the Huskies’ shots.

University of Delaware wins 74-61!

Northeastern would come out of halftime with some juice as the team went on a 14-4 run to take a five-point lead (47-42) with 14:36 left in the game.

Twenty-seven seconds later, the Blue Hens would respond by dashing out to a 13-1 run, which gave them a 55-48 lead with 9:28 remaining in the game. The trio of Jameer Nelson Jr., Ryan Allen, and Andrew Carr would score all 13 points on the run. The Hens defense was also solid on the run as the team had four defensive rebounds, three steals, and one block.

Seconds later, the University of Delaware would keep on rolling as the team went on a 17-7 run to push their lead to 17 points ( 72-55) with 2:02 left in the game. The trio of Carr, Kevin Anderson, and Allen would score 15 of the 17 points on the run. The Blue Hens were on fire from the three-point line during the run, as Allen made one and Anderson drained two.

As the last two minutes ticked away in the game, the Huskies would go on a 6-2 run, but it would not matter as Delaware hung on to win 74-61.
