Blue Hens lead by eight points after one quarter of play
In the first five minutes of this game, the College of Charleston had the advantage as the team jumped out to a 12-7 lead with 5:46 left in the first quarter.
A minute and 27 seconds later, the Blue Hens would start to get rolling as the team scored five straight points to tie the game up at 12 with 3:51 remaining in the first quarter. Ty Battle would score three of the five points on the run.
Starting at the 3:37 minute mark, the Hens would outscore the Cougars 14-6 to end the first quarter with a 26-18 lead. The duo of Battle and Jasmine Dickey would score five of the 14 on the run. Rebounding was also a factor on the run as the team collected seven rebounds.
Hens lead by ten points at the end of the first half
Delaware rode the momentum they had in the late first quarter right into the second, as the team went on a 13-6 run to push their lead to 39-24 with 3:52 left in the first half. Jasmine Dickey was one of the leaders of this run as she scored nine of the 13 points, had one steal, one assist, and three rebounds.
Seconds later, the College of Charleston would start on their own 13-6 run, which would cut the lead to eight points (45-37) with 1:15 left to play in the first half.
The University of Delaware would end the first half by outscoring the Cougars 5-3 to push their lead to 50-40.
Delaware holds a 14 point lead after three-quarters of play
As the second half opened, the points were flying off their board, but the Blue Hens had the advantage as they outscored the College of Charleston 17-13 to extend their lead to 67-53 with 3:26 left in the third quarter. Tyi Skinner scored six of the 17 points during that time.
Starting at the 2:09 minute mark, Delaware would outscore the Cougars 9-6 to expand their lead to 17 points (76-59) with 40 seconds remaining in the third quarter. The duo of Jasmine Dickey and redshirt senior guard Jewel Smalls second seven of the nine points during that time.
Dickey’s four points during that time helped move her into fourth place in the program’s all-time leading scorers.
As the seconds ran down in the third quarter, the College of Charleston would go on a 4-1 run to cut the lead to 77-63.
Blue Hens win 103-79!
In the early minutes of the fourth quarter, the University of Delaware would keep the Cougars away from the lead by outscoring them 10-7 to hold an 87-70 advantage with 5:20 left in the game. One of the impact players on the run was Jasmine Dickey, who scored six of the ten points, four rebounds, and one block.
Seconds later, the Blue Hens would start on a 16-9 run, which would seal dominating 103-79 win over the Cougars. Dickey would score 12 of the 16 points on the run. Not only was Dickey the scoring leader during that time, but she broke the record for the most points scored at the Bob Carpenter Center with 52.
