Blue Hens lead by six points after one half of play
The game started with the Blue Hens jetting out to a 5-2 lead with 18:24 left in the first half. Ebby Asamoah would score all five points for UD during that time.
At the 17:48 minute mark, William & Mary would go on to outscore Delaware 4-2 to cut the lead to one point (7-6) with 16:48 left in the first period.
The Blue Hens would answer back by going a 15-7 run, which gave the team a 22-13 lead with 10:33 left in the first half. The duo of Asamoah and Kevin Anderson would score nine of the 15 points on the run. The University of Delaware drained three shots from the three-point line on the run, two came from Anderson, and one came from Asamoah. The defense picked up their play in the run as the team had one steal and two blocks.
About a minute later, Delaware would continue on their hot streak as the team went on a 16-9 run to take a 38-22 lead with 6:18 remaining in the first half. The trio of Ryan Allen, Asamoah, and Anderson would score 14 of the 16 points on the run. Once again, the three-point shot was a factor in a run, as the team drained three. Ebby Asamoah would make two shots from the three-point line on the run, and Ryan Allen also made one.
Almost two minutes later, the Tribe would claw their way back into this one as the team went on a 14-4 run to end the first half trailing by six points (42-36).
Delaware wins 84-74!
The second half started with William & Mary still feeling the momentum of their late first-half surge as they outscored the Blue Hens 7-4 to cut the lead to three points (46-43) with 16:38 left in the game.
Thirty-two seconds later, Delaware would respond by flying out on a 10-2 run, which gave the team a 56-45 lead with 14:23 remaining in the game.
Fast forward to 12:33 minute mark, where the Hens would a take 16 point lead (63-47) over William & Mary, which was thanks to a made three-pointer from Jameer Nelson Jr. The 16 point lead was the largest advantage Delaware had over the Tribe in the second half.
Two minutes later, William & Mary would score seven straight points to cut the lead to nine points (63-54) with 10:37 left in the second half.
Seconds later, Delaware would add some cushion to their lead as the team outscored the Tribe 12-8 to take a 75-62 lead with 5:04 remaining in the game. The duo of Nelson Jr. and Andrew Carr would score nine of the 12 points on the run. The defense was also solid on the run as they had two blocks, and one steal.
As the minutes ticked down, the Tribe would outscore the University of Delaware 12-9, but it would not matter as the Hens would hold on to win 84-74.
