Ligonde scores 23 points in Goldey-Beacom’s 75-61 win over Holy Family

Goldey-Beacom leads by nine points at the end of the first half

The opening minutes of this game started with the Lightning dashing out to a 14-2 lead with 12:32 left in the first half. Goldey-Beacom drained four shots from the three-point line during this run, as they came from Tyler Jones, Mattia Morini, Juran Ligonde, and Nazim Derry. Rebounding was also a factor during this run, as the team collected nine rebounds.

Seconds later, Holy Family would answer back with a 12-4 run of their own, which would cut the lead to four points (18-14) with 8:06 left in the first half.

At the 7:32 minute mark, the Lightning would go on to outscore the Tigers 13-8 to take a 31-22 lead into the half.

In the first three minutes of the second half, Holy Family came roaring out on a 13-1 run, which cut the lead to three points (35-32) with 17:09 left in the game.

After a timeout on the court, the Tigers would continue their hot streak as the team went on a 15-9 run to take a 47-44 lead with 13:20 remaining in the second half.

Starting at the 12:16 minute mark, Goldey-Beacom would outscore Holy Family 14-6 to take a 58-53 lead with 8:40 left in the game. The leader of this run was Juran Ligonde, who scored eight of the 14 points. Rebounding was once again a factor on a run, as the team collected six rebounds.

About a minute later, the Tigers would score five straight points to tie the game up at 58 with 7:02 left in the game.

At the 6:01 minute mark, the Lightning would put the hammer down as the team went on a 17-3 run to seal a 75-61 win! The duo of Nazim Derry and Ligonde would score ten of the 17 points on the run. Goldey-Beacom drained three shots from the three-point line during this run, which came from Derry, freshman guard Cardin Joubert, and Mattia Morini.
