Wilmington down by 11 points after one-quarter of play
The first quarter was all Holy Family as the team came out ready to play as they took an early 12-4 lead with 5:27 left in the first quarter.
Starting at the 4:34 minute mark, the Tigers would outscore Wilmington 14-11 to end the first quarter with an 11 point lead (26-15).
Wildcats down by 13 points after one half of play
In the first four minutes of the second quarter, Holy family still had the momentum on their side, as the team went on a 10-4 run, which pushed their lead to 36-19 with 6:30 left in the first half.
Starting at the 5:58 minute mark, the Wildcats started to make some noise, as the team went on a 6-2 run to cut the lead to 38-25 at the end of the first half. Rebounding was a factor on this run as the team collected nine rebounds. WilmU’s defense also stepped up as they had two blocks and one steal.
WilmU trails by 10 points after three-quarters of play
Wilmington carried over the momentum they had in the late first half of the game right into the early minutes of the second half, as the team went on a 6-2 run to cut the lead to nine points (40-31). Sabreen Muslim was the leader of that run as she scored four of the six points.
At the 7:31 minute mark, Holy Family would outscore WilmU 15-13, which would extend their lead to 55-44 at the end of the third quarter.
Wilmington wins 69-64!
The Wildcats came out with some fighting energy in the final quarter as the team went on a 12-1 run to tie the game at 56 with 6:22 left in the game. The duo of Sabreen Muslim and Kiara Eubanks would score ten of the 12 points on the run.
A minute later, the Tigers would score four straight points to give them a 60-56 lead with 5:08 left in the game.
Wilmington would answer back with a 13-4 run, which would seal a 69-64 win over Holy Family. The leader of this run was Eubanks, who scored seven of the 13 points.
The Wildcats outrebounded the Tigers 17-7 in the fourth quarter. They also outshot Holy Family in the quarter too as WilmU had a shooting percentage of 46.7%, and the Tigers had a 16.7% shooting percentage. Wilmington also went to the free-throw line often in the fourth quarter, and the team made it count with a 91.7% (11-12).
