Blue Hens Defense Key in 24-3 upset of William & Mary

The University of Delaware’s football team has now won two straight games, with the dominating 24-3 win over #20/23 the College of William & Mary Tribe on Saturday.

The offensive standouts in the game for the Blue Hens were Redshirt junior quarterback Zach Gwynn, Graduate student running back Dejoun Lee, sophomore wide receiver James Collins, and junior wide receiver Jourdan Townsend.

Gwynn went 17 for 21 with 157 passing yards, and two touchdowns.

Lee rushed for 46 yards on 19 carries, and one touchdown.

Collins had six receptions for 73 yards, and one touchdown.

Townsend had one reception for eight yards, and one touchdown.

On the defensive side, the standouts for the Hens were Redshirt junior linebacker Liam Trainer, senior linebacker Johnny Buchanan, Redshirt junior defensive back Noah Plack, Graduate student linebacker Dae’Lun Darien, Redshirt senior Long Snapper/Offensive Lineman Jake Reed, Redshirt junior defensive end Tommy Walsh, and Redshirt junior defensive tackle Jordan Morris.

Trainer was the co-leader in total tackles for the Blue Hens with 12.

Buchanan was the co-leader in total tackles for the Blue Hens with 12. He also had an interception.

Plack had nine tackles and a fumble recovery.

Darien had four tackles and one sack.

Reed had two tackles and forced one fumble.

Walsh had two tackles and one sack.

Morris had two tackles and one sack.
