CAA Semifinals: Blue Hens defense stifles Hofstra in 60-39 win

The University of Delaware women’s basketball team is advancing to their first Colonial Athletic Association Tournament Championship game since the 2014 season after the team made easy work of the Hofstra University Pride on Friday with a 60-39 win.

The leading scorer in the win for the Blue Hens was junior guard/forward Jasmine Dickey, who recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Redshirt junior forward Ty Battle recorded a double-double in the win with 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Senior forward Lizzie Oleary also scored in double-digits in the win as she had 14 points.

Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (32-12), points off of turnovers (14-6), second-chance points (19-11), bench points (15-12), rebounds (57-42), turnovers (8-15), and steals (5-3).

Blue Hens also had the advantage in shooting as well, with the team shooting 31.9 % (23-72) and with Hofstra shooting 22.8 % (13-57). The Hens bested the Pride from the foul line as well, with the team shooting 61.1 %(11-18) and Hofstra shooting 56.3 %(9-16).
