Delaware Opens season with Dominating 111-54 win vs Salem

The University of Delaware women’s basketball team opened up the 2020 season in dominating fashion as the team beat the Salem University Tigers 111-54 on Wednesday. The 111 points in the win is a new single-game record for the Hens.

Junior guard/forward Jasmine Dickey led the Blue Hens in scoring in the win with 31 points.

Redshirt junior forward Ty Battle recorded a double-double in the win with 16 points and ten rebounds.

Two other Blue Hens scored in double digits in the win which they were freshman guard Tyi Skinner (15) and senior forward Lizzie Oleary (14).

Sophomore forward Brynn Wade led the team in rebounds in the game as she collected 12.

Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (64-22), points off turnovers (32-3), second-chance points (21-2), fast-break points (27-17), bench points (39-23), rebounds (71-31), assists (20-4), turnovers (19-27) and steals (16-9).

The Blue Hens dominated on the boards in this game, and the effort led to a new single-game record for rebounds with 71.

Delaware also had the advantage of shooting as well, as the team shot 48.2 % (40-83), and Salem shooting 24.6 % (16-65). The Hens also had the advantage over the Tigers at the three-point line as the team shot 33.3 % (5-15) and Salem shot 12.5 % (4-32).
