Delaware Sports Blitz will be showcasing student-athletes performances from this past season each week.
Each week we will look at different colleges from the state of Delaware and showcase their athlete’s performance in the chosen sport of the week.
This week is all about Goldey Beacom’s softball team which will continue with freshman first baseman/outfielder Nicole Makin.
Makin had a .333 batting average, seven hits, one double, one walk, five strikeouts,.381 slugging percentage and a .364 on-base percentage in the shortened eight-game season.
On the fielding side of the ball, Makin had seven putouts, one assist, and a fielding percentage of 1.000.
The Edgewater Park, New Jersey native was among the best in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in batting average, as Makin placed in the 20th spot with .333.

Lightning Fall 9-3 To Shippensburg In Season Opener
Goldey-Beacom opened up their season at the Snowbird Freeze-Out with 9-3 loss to Shippensburg.
Makin had one hit and one walk in the season-opening loss. On the defensive side, Makin had two catches for one putout and one assist in the game.
Goldey Picks Up First Win Vs Millersville
On February 15th, the Lightning would pick up their first win of the season as the team beat Millersville 8-1.
On the defensive side, Makin had one catch for one putout in the win.
Goldey-Beacom Falls 7-4 Vs Southern Connecticut
The day after Goldey earned their first win of the season, the team would fall to Southern Connecticut by a score of 7-4.
Makin had two hits and one double in the loss. On the defensive side, Makin had two catches for two putouts.
Lightning Lose 5-0 In First Game With West Chester
In the seventh game of the season, Goldey-Beacom would fall on the road to West Chester 5-0.
Makin had three hits in the loss.
